Frusterio Design Approach Series-In the Beginning

For over 25 years, our firm has specialized in designing custom homes and renovations, but each new project presents new and exciting opportunities for creativity along with obstacles to overcome. Each client has their own unique personality, as well as the vision they have in their future home. We love partnering alongside with them to transform those ideas into the home they envisioned.

In starting the design process with a new client, we try to consider many elements that will be a factor in the finished space. Proportion, flow, natural light, style, materials and functionality are just a few of the many considerations made while forming our thoughts on a preliminary floor plan. As we begin thinking through the layout of the floor plan(s), we are keeping the aesthetic of the elevations in mind. What is a great floor plan if the front of your house is ugly?!

Interior spaces are laid out to be as efficient as possible. We have seen a shift in the wants/needs of many our clients to plans that are designed smaller, but smarter. It’s amazing how, if designed correctly, a small home can feel as larger as one twice its size! Consumers are now choosier with how their budget is used in the house. The elimination of formal dining and secondary formal living rooms and the use of multi-use “flex” rooms are becoming normal requests. Open floor plans and abundant natural light top client’s request lists as well. Designing in a way that maximizes the useability and character of the home, regardless if it is 10,000 sq. ft. or 1,200, is something we pride ourselves on.

From initial consultation to completed design to the completion of construction, we love the interaction with our clients and helping their dream of a custom home come true! Feel free to contact us to discuss your potential project!
